Our Story

Oski Market began with something we saw repeatedly in the community of Norway House Cree Nation (NHCN), incredible talent.

Across NHCN, artists and entrepreneurs have long been creating beautiful products and offering valuable services. Each product and service reflects the creativity, innovation, and stories of the people behind them. However, many entrepreneurs have shared that it can be difficult to find consistent opportunities to showcase their work and reach a broader audience.

Through conversations with community members, the NHCN Economic Development Group recognized a growing need for a dedicated space where entrepreneurs could present their products and services in a way that supports their growth and visibility.

All of the entrepreneurs featured on Oski Market have also participated in the Level Up: 6-Week Business Program, where they receive support in developing their business ideas and preparing their products for the market.

Oski Market was created in response to that need. The vision was simple: create a platform that brings together the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit already present within the community and provides a space where that work can be seen, supported, and shared.

The name Oski comes from the Cree word meaning “new” or “fresh,” representing a new way of supporting and celebrating member-led business and entrepreneurship in Norway House Cree Nation.
